A home Powerwall project—how we actually work it.

Typical scope: backup through Midwest storms, optional pairing to solar you already have, Tesla Home at commissioning. Photos are Digital Electric Powerwall installs.

Goal

What this job is for.

Keep the loads that matter—refrigeration, well or sump, heat or air, internet, medical equipment—through an outage, and use stored energy in the evening if solar already exists on the roof. Tesla Home ships with the Powerwall. Digital Electric is not installing new solar yet.

Constraints

What usually binds the design.

  • Existing service size, panel space, and whether a backup load center is required
  • Midwest winter mounting and Tesla’s published operating range (–4°F to 122°F)
  • Existing solar (welcome) vs new solar (not offered by Digital Electric yet)
  • Whether a Tesla home charger belongs in the same visit

Design

  • Powerwall 2 vs Powerwall 3 from Tesla’s published power, solar-inverter, and expansion specs
  • Whole-home vs essential circuits, plus permit and utility interconnection
  • Optional Wall Connector on the same electrical design

Install

Field work, then Tesla Home.

Mounting, raceway, gateway or backup equipment, labeling, and Tesla commissioning so Tesla Home comes online.
